Brought a truck from dealership..didnt no it was in 2 differnt accidents till after we got it.can i sue?

It depends on what state you live in. Some states require disclosure of the car%26#039;s history, but most don%26#039;t.
Brought a truck from dealership..didnt no it was in 2 differnt accidents till after we got it.can i sue?
It should have stated that it has a salvaged title but if they didn%26#039;t tell you or title didn%26#039;t confirm it, I would first consult with the DMV of your state.
Brought a truck from dealership..didnt no it was in 2 differnt accidents till after we got it.can i sue?
Was this a used truck? or a new one? You can sue, till your blue. But what if any deception did the dealership perpetrate on you? Any warranty on the truck ? or did you buy it as is? I know this doesn%26#039;t sound good to you, but it is what it is. If the dealer stated it had never been wrecked in an advertisement or anything in writing then you mite have a case. Good Luck
Reply:Dealerships are liable to disclose previous accidents...if they are aware of it. Getting them to admit if they knew about is another situation.

I%26#039;d ask them to take the vehicle back, if they say no....consult an attorney.
Reply:Most states do not require disclosure. Of course You can sue, but winning may be very, very difficult. How will you prove that the dealership knew of the accidents before they sold it to you ?
Reply:What are you going to sue them for?

Its possible they did not know of the accidents, and even if they did, you will have to prove they knew.

And secondly, with all these websites out there now (ie carfax) why didn%26#039;t you research your vehicle before you bought it?

In the USA, how do ya make your own auto insurance (as if you're the company yourself) even if you don't own _

your own auto insurance company, and have the government recognize it as at least a legal liability insurance company (as a way of saving money from the high cost of actual insurance companies, especially if the cost by them has gone up and up...), but also limit the amount someone can get from you if they have a lawsuit against your own little self-insurance box you have going there?

Hey! I have heard of people doing this, seriously! But I don%26#039;t remember if it was auto insurance or just health insurance, for sure. So anyway... how do ya do it and get it recognized where it needs to be (since at least liability auto insurance is required by law here)?

Come back and see my responses to your answers, okay?

Thanks.

You must post a cash bond, a big one $$$ You can check with your Dept. of Motor Vehicles to find out how to do this. Your own auto insurance company ? Get real.

yes you have to have at least a 50 000 bond to not carry insurance

How can I sell my car the same day I register it?
No. It takes a period of time for the registration materials to get to the state headquarters of the DMV. You will get all the registration documents, but the title could take up to three months.

If my auto accident case is dismissed, will I have to pay defense attorney costs?

I have an auto accident case which the logging truck driver jacknifed his truck and hit me head on. I sustained serious injuries, and am suing. Nobody saw the accident, it was far out. I was flown out by medivac. The insurance company representing the logging company hired their %26quot;experts%26quot; who came back and claim I veered in to his lane and hit him, therefore my injuries are %26quot;my fault.%26quot;

What happens if after reviewing the entire case the judge accepts the defense request for dismissal. Will I have to pay the thousands the defense spent up to that point???
If my auto accident case is dismissed, will I have to pay defense attorney costs?
Better to ask your lawyer as only he has all the details of the case.
If my auto accident case is dismissed, will I have to pay defense attorney costs?
Most likely.

Its also possible if you win that you have to pay costs as well.

The lawyers costs will come out of your settlement before you get your money.

Make sure you ask the lawyer to get the judge to order the defendants insurance company to pay costs if you win.

BTW, without trying to scare you, I had a settlement a few years ago that didnt go to court, I was awarded $21,000 and I walked out with a cheque for $8800 after lawyers bills.
Reply:Only your lawyer can tell you for sure. I hope YOUR insurance company is involved in this. If they are not, they should be.
Reply:No, you are not responsible for the defense%26#039;s expenses/fees unless the insurance defense attorney filed an offer of judgment. You could be responsible for some of the fees and costs from the date the offer of judgment was filed until the matter is resolved/dismissed. Ask your attorney.

Can u drive with a pink slip?

yeah why not.

as long as you bring your driver license, car registration, and car insurance.

and also u can drive with your grandma either,or your vodka.
Can u drive with a pink slip?
yes. but its not smart too. if your car gets stolen or anything you are F***ed
Can u drive with a pink slip?
(to the other answerers) I believe he is referring to the pink copy of the registration / title transfer paperwork that is given to motorists when they first transfer title ownership.

The pink sheets act in lieu of actual registration / title, until either the actual registration arrives or a predetermined time period elapses. So...yes, you can drive with a %26#039;pink slip%26#039; in this case.

If %26quot;pink slip%26quot; is intended to refer to the actual title of the car (as the other answerers seem to believe)...then you cannot drive with it. Or, I should say, a title alone does not magically act as vehicle registration.

What is title rejecection correction receipt?

its a form they give to use to get the title straitened out with i had one on a car once, because there was too many signatures on the title,i had to file for one of those,it can be used for various reasons though, but it will help you get a clear title to it,they issue these when there%26#039;s a title problem with certain vehicles, such as a vehicle that has been wrecked and fixed back, good luck.

Average motorcycle insurance for a young married couple?

my fiance and i are thinking about getting a motorcycle in about a year.

how much would insurance cost for an average bike?

we will be 20.
Average motorcycle insurance for a young married couple?
It is not that easy to tell, as the insurer will need a lot more information before they will be able to quote, such as where you live, the model of motorcycle, the age of the motorcycle, how it will be used, the cover you will require, your driving experience etc.

Your best bet would be to try a price comparison site such as www.confused.com or an insurance broker, as they will check lots of different insurers for you and make sure that you get the best deal. It is also worth bearing in mind that sometimes the cheapest isn%26#039;t always the best when it comes to claims service, and that sometimes, where a quote appears to be good, there could be a very high excess on the policy, meaning that if you have a claim, you end up paying for most of the claim cost yourself. When you find a quote that appeals to you, it may be worth asking for a specimen policy so that you can read through exactly what you are covered for.
Average motorcycle insurance for a young married couple?
there is no real %26quot;average%26quot; in giving out insurance quotes because they tend to run your social which i dont think you wanna give to anyone on Yahoo LOL, anyways try a website like http://www.COMPAREusINSURANCE.com to view a list of companies in your area
Reply:there is no way to tell you that without a LOT more information. call your agent and have them quote it for you. if American Reliable writes in your area, thats a good company with great rates.
Reply:if you get liability it would be cheap like around $20-50 but if you get full coverage it will be alot more because bikes are high risk. around 75-400.

When do you have to register a boat in CA.?

i am thinking about buying a 12ft Jon boat. do you have to register it. i own a canoe and i havnt registered it. When do ou have to register a boat in CA. ps doesnt have a motor.

I had an auto accident, but I know its not my fault, or is it?

I鈥檓 really confused! I had an auto accident in a parking lot, but it was on private property so the cop did not file a police report. Here%26#039;s what happened...I was about to park but then I realized it was a reserved spot so I began reversing to park in another parking spot that was further down. I checked for other vehicles before I began reversing and saw none so I started reversing down the aisle. After reversing for about 20 feet, I collided with another vehicle that was backing out. She%26#039;s blaming me %26amp; saying that I hit her, but I was already reversing down the aisle so doesn鈥檛 that mean I have the right of way? She admitted to seeing me when I first started reversing, but when I got closer she did not see me. The back of my car (left side) struck the back of her truck (right side) so who鈥檚 at fault? I鈥檓 really lost!
I had an auto accident, but I know its not my fault, or is it?
Most likely in your case you would both be found to be equally at fault. You both were backing up and you both collided with each other...period. It is you responsibility to look for her and see her, and visa-versa equally responsible not to hit each other.

So probably your insurance companies will find you both 50% guilty. Which is equal to an at fault accident for both parties.

You need to file a police report as does the second party, then contact your insurance company and report the accident.

They make the final decsion since the police refused to make a determinination of guilt.
I had an auto accident, but I know its not my fault, or is it?
I%26#039;m not sure who is at fault and the police will not write a report on private property. You all should have exchanged information and you should have called your Ins. co. %26amp; told them what happen that day.It%26#039;s going to end up between the Ins. co. to deciede who going to pay.Must likely each person%26#039;s Ins is going to fix there on car.
Reply:I would pretty much guarantee the insurance companies will judge it 50-50, that is standard.

But who backs down the row in a parking lot? That is crazy, and the accident would never have happened had you just driven forward to the next spot, or around the row, anything except backwards!
Reply:You both are at fault.

Neither one of you was keeping a safe lookout while traveling in reverse. The % at fault will be determined by your respective insurance companies.
Reply:You are probably most at fault. (unsafe backing)......but.....What possible difference could it make by %26lt;you%26gt; determing whose %26quot;FAULT%26quot; it is ? Last time, I checked, there is no such thing as a Legal paper that lists who is at fault. I have never seen one, have you? Finding fault is best left to the insurance companies and/or police departments and courts. Report the accident to your insurance company and let them handle it.

Had you been driving forward down the aisle and she backed into you, then I could see her being the one %26quot;at-fault%26quot;

But since you were both reversing, you both are liable
Reply:Sounds like a 50/50 liability scenario to me. You were both backing. If you have collision, go through your own insurance company. They will pay you in full, and subrogate to recover at least the 50%.

Moving a lease to Chicago?

My husband and I are moving to Chicago at the end of June. Our lease on our current car is up, so we need to go ahead and lease a new one. With all the nonsense surrounding taxes on registering cars in Illinois, we don%26#039;t know what the best course of action is. Should we lease a car here, and if so, will we pay taxes twice (to CA now and to IL when we register there)? Or should we find a way to wait and lease a car once we%26#039;re in Illinois? Or will Illinois screw us equally either way?
Moving a lease to Chicago?
That taxes have to be paid in Illinois, period. Talk to the leasing company. If you lease from a company that is licenced to lease in both states, you will pay CA taxes up to the date you transfer, then Illinois taxes. If you lease from a company that is not licenced to lease in both, you will have all kinds of problems, possibly even been told you can%26#039;t take the car when you move, or the leasing company taking the taxes for CA, and Illinois collecting as well. As a broker and registrations agent, I registered many out-of-province leases, and for the most part the companies were licenced by our tax department, but it got messy if somebody had a lease from some small local company in their previous jurisdiction.

If the vehicle you want cannot be leased from a national leasing company, wait to get to Chicago, it will save a world of problems. If the lease is from somebody like Ford Credit, Chrysler Credit, etc, there is not likely to be a problem.
Moving a lease to Chicago?
If you are talking about sales taxes, No matter where you lease the car from, you do not have to pay them twice. They will be paid to the state/municipality of your actual address at the time of lease.

Road test?

obviously everyone can%26#039;t answer this exactly, but i am getting ready to take my road test in a couple days i live in michigan. I am nervous naturally but at the same time i feel ready to get it done, and continue learning how to drive after it. My question basically is if anyone in michigan has taken it and if they had difficulty doing anything, and how long the driving on the road portion is, and of course parallel parking! ahha but any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated and helpful. thank you :D
Road test?
im not in michigan, but i took mine recently in california. my biggest piece of advice is to relax! the test is actually pretty easy if you are familiar with driving. its just your nerves that mess you up! TRUST ME!!!! just relax!

My car was repossed in february after i had lotst my job,its now june and DMV says i owe registration?
If you can provide proof that your car was repossessed, you will only need to pay up to the date it was repossessed, as after that date, you are no longer the registered keeper.
My car was repossed in february after i had lotst my job,its now june and DMV says i owe registration?
Provide the DMV with the documents showing your car was repo%26#039;d in Feb and that no fees would be due.

Can an insurance company tell if car has been in an accident when there was no claim and only a police report?

Yes, if there is a police report, it is on your motor vehicle record which every insurance company runs periodcially. They will find it %26amp; contact you to explain it. On your motor vehicle report it will just have the date and that you were involved in an accident, it will not say if you were at fault or not.

in other words if you really are the main driver and your dad is an occasional driver you cant do it.

however if your dad does genuinly have two cars then he can insure them both in his name or you may get a better deal with a family insurance.

Do insurance companies search accident history reports on cars in addition to driver history reports?

when you take out insurance you are usually asked the question if you have had any accidents in the past five years - you have a duty of disclosure to advise the correct information - if you advise that you have not had an accident and you have if the insurance company finds out this can make your insurance null and void and you can also be charged with fraud as you are supposed to be providing correct information when taking insurance out.

they run your mvr and clue reports. this shows any violations and any accidents you have had. do they run history on the actual auto...no.

DID YOU CONTACT THE INSURANCE COMPANY OR THE BROKER?

GO STRAIGHT TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY THEIR PHONE NUMBER WILL BE ON THE SCHEDULE AND POLICIES AS I HAVE DONE THIS BEFORE AND ALL I PAID WAS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 2 POLICIES
Reply:Mid term adjustments on insurance policies are calculated on a pro-rata basis. That is to say the new risk details are quoted by the insurer on an annual basis, and the difference between the new annual premium and the original annual premium is split over the number of days remaining on the insurance. This, along with any fee, is what comprises your additional premium.

You cannot go direct to an insurer where the policy is administered by a broker. The insurer will not deal directly with you if the policy was purchased via the broker channel.

Your broker will have issued you with an Initial Disclosure Document (IDD) and Terms of Business Agreement (TOBA) when you took out your policy with them. This, along with a Key Facts Document issued by the insurer will outline in advance all fees and charged associated with your insurance.

If you%26#039;re a long standing customer (and your broker is not one of the money-hungry nationals), they may waive the fee for you on request. If however you%26#039;re dealing with one of %26quot;the big boys%26quot;, they will most likely stick to their guns and you will have to pay the fee.

Be warned, if you cancel the policy in protest, they%26#039;ll charge a fee then too so there%26#039;s no escape.

I have lost 6 years of no claim bonus as I had very minor car accident?

Hi,

Can anybody tell me why my insurance company have taken 6 years of no claims bonus. I had nine years no claim bonus. I recently drove at 2mph into the back of another driver. No damage was done to either car but the driver I knocked is now claiming for whiplash. As I feel this is just a bogus claim as it would probably be unlikly to recieve whiplash at such a low impact but my insurance say they are just going to pay out as it is obviouly me at fault and are no even going to argue the case but this could take up to 3 years. Now my insurance is up for renewal and we are getting quoted much more than last year due to this claim going on. Is there a set amout of no claims taken from you per accident or can the insurance company take what they feel like. Is there anything I can do to get this accident investgated further to make sure this is a true claim and not just somebody trying to make quick cash from this. I am in the UK so I need to know the %26quot;law of the land%26quot; in UK.

Thanks
I have lost 6 years of no claim bonus as I had very minor car accident?
Your insurance company has to do what you ask. If you want to fight it , you can. However, to prove someone doesn%26#039;t have whiplash would be hard. However, See how much it raises it. If its too much, switch insurances.
I have lost 6 years of no claim bonus as I had very minor car accident?
Everybody seems to think its OK to claim whiplash, but all it does in the long run is cost ever body more money in paying for these fake claims. It makes me MAD ! ! !

Tell your insurance company you disagree and you want them to fight it. As it is fraud. if there is no damage to the car then deny you even touched it.
Reply:Yes, I%26#039;d try quotes from a different insurer in future: try confused.com - A lot of insurance companies will take different amounts of your no claims bonus per incident.

It was your fault, so there%26#039;s no point in questioning their decision or having the accident investigated: People who have accidents claim, that%26#039;s the sad way things are these days, an imported behaviour from the US, and that%26#039;s why our insurance is so dear here to start with.

I have protected no claims, which costs about 拢20 a year: sounds cheap now! You also need to make sure that you have legal protection with yor insurance: If you don%26#039;t, your insurer will NEVER argue the toss with a third party.

The other driver will be paid out by your insurer, so you%26#039;re suffering no further personal financial loss by him claiming for personal injury, so you have nothing to gain by any investigation: You%26#039;ll still be liable for the accident, and if you%26#039;re right about the other driver%26#039;s injury, it%26#039;s only your insurer that wins.
Reply:Not sure this is any help but something similar happened to me. I reversed into a parked car outside a shop. The owner of the car i bumped into saw me do it from within the shop. It was my fault and accepted responsibility at the time. However, 3 months down the line after the accident this woman had a solicitor contact me claiming personal injury??? Now I know and she knows that she wasn%26#039;t even in the car and i told my insurance company so but they never got back to me and like you my premiums doubled overnight! I changed my insurer and to this day i dont know if this woman got a payout for her bogus claim. Good luck.

I CONTACTED MY INSURANCE COMPANY.

AS I DID NOT TAKE OUT LEGAL REPRESENTATION WHEN I RENEWED MY INSURANCE PRIOR TO THIS, MY INSURANCE COMPANY DIDN%26#039;T WANT TO KNOW BUT THEY STOPPED MY 50% NO CLAIMS ENTIRELY.

WHEN THE POLICE DID HIM 10 MONTHS LATER AND SENT ME DETAILS OF HIS CONVICTION I WAS THEN ABLE TO USE THAT AS PROOF OF HIS GUILT AS HE HAD ALWAYS DENIED JUMPING THE RED WHICH IS WHAT CAUSED THE ACCIDENT.

I WAS LUCKY AS SOON AS I SENT COPY OF COURT FINDING TO HIS INSURANCE COMPANY I WAS PAID WITHIN 1 WEEK AND I THEN HAD TO SEND A LETTER TO MY COMPANY TO CONFIRM MATER HAD BEEN SETTLED BY WHICH TIME MY POLICY REQUIED RENEWAL AND I GOT MY NO CLAIMS BACK.

IF HE CLAIMS ON YOUR INSURANCE YOU WILL LOOSE SOME OR PART OF YOUR NO CLAIMS

AS YOU DROVE INTO THE BACK OF HIM THEY WILL BLAME YOU BY SAYING YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STOP IN TIME AND IF NOT YOU WERE DRIVING TO CLOSE.

YOU OBVIOUSLY DID NOT HAVE PROTECTED NO CLAIMS.

MOST INSURANCE COMPANIES GIVE 10% FOR FIRST 3 YEARS THEN DROP DOWN TO 5% PER YEAR AFTER THAT UNTIL FULL NO CLAIMS IS REACHED THEN YOU GET NO MORE. I AM GUESSING AS I DON%26#039;T KNOW WHAT YOU WERE/WILL BE PAYING.

YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY HAVE DECIDED TO PAY OUT SO NOT ALOT TO BE DONE

THE ONLY CHANCE IS DID HE GO TO HOSPITAL AFTER THE ACCIDENT. IF SO WHERE IS THE BILL FOR THE AMBULANCE

I SPUN ON ICE ONCE AND TOOK A PUSH BIKE SIDEWAYS ONTO THE PAVEMENT

AS HE CLAIMED ON MY INSURANCE I WAS SENT THE BILL FOR THE AMBULANCE. I DIDN%26#039;T NEED ONE SO IT CAN%26#039;T HAVE BEEN FOR MY AMBULANCE
Reply:The thing about a no claims bonus is that you have no legal entitlement to it. It is just a gift the insurers give you to encourage you not to make petty claims, and as it is a gift they can take it away again at will. It is also a no CLAIM bonus, not a no BLAME bonus, and as this character has made a claim and they seem inclined to accept it there%26#039;s not a lot you can do. Apart from shop around, which I%26#039;d strongly suggest.
Reply:firstly find there adress and give them a good kicking to make the extra premiums worth it.....Lucky Ellie couldnt agree more with you.....sponging,whinging,lying,manipula... a$$holes like this make me puke too.oo so i dont get sued allegidly.
Reply:I would personally get in touch with your insurance company and tell them to do their job properly!

If it is true that you only hit him at 2mph and that there is no claim for damage to the car - how the heck can he have whiplash??

What make and model is his car? Because if it is anything built in the last 20 years of so then surely it has head restraints?? The job of the head restraint is to prevent the head going backwards over your shoulders (like looking up at the stars) in the event of a rear end shunt.

It sound like your insurance company %26quot;can%26#039;t be bothered%26quot; i would phone them up EVERY day - find out what they are doing to protect you from this bullsh*tting moron - you are THEIR PAYING CUSTOMER!! You are paying them your hard earned cash and they are not supplying you with the goods!

Good luck and DON%26#039;T back down!

I bought a car and signed my name on the title. I only had it a week and sold it. do I have to get it register

I only had the car a week and sold it. I want to know if the next guy just sign his name next to mine and get it registered in his name. I am already losing money on the deal, and registering it , will cost me another $145.
I bought a car and signed my name on the title. I only had it a week and sold it. do I have to get it register
No you must register it in your name than you can sell it. There is only one space for individuals to sign and transfer a title. The other spaces are for dealers only. Once you signed your name to you cant keep adding peoples names until the title is transferd to you than you can sell/transfer title to next buyer.....UJN
I bought a car and signed my name on the title. I only had it a week and sold it. do I have to get it register
no, but you need to send the title off, so it will come back in your name, then you can sign it over to the new owner
Reply:No. The vehicle must be registered to you through your states DMV before you can legally sell it. The person who bought it will have serious problems trying to register it because you did not give him a CLEAR title to the vehicle. Legally speaking he can take you to court, rescind the purchase, give the car back to you and force you to refund his money.

If I move from Iowa to Minnesota for 1 year, when or do I have to buy new car insurance (cheaper in Iowa)?

The car is registered under my parents who still live in Iowa, but will primarily be driving in MN, I don%26#039;t know if that changes anything. Also, would I have to change my license plate as well (parents still live in Iowa)?
If I move from Iowa to Minnesota for 1 year, when or do I have to buy new car insurance (cheaper in Iowa)?
Typically, the address of the registration/plates and insurance must match. To be 100% legal and ethical, you would tell the insurance company that the car would be %26quot;garaged/housed%26quot; in MN for the year. It may alter your rate, though, and for these %26#039;temporary%26#039; moves, many people just overlook this call to the insurance company.
If I move from Iowa to Minnesota for 1 year, when or do I have to buy new car insurance (cheaper in Iowa)?
The main problem may come from law enforcement. many States require you to have their States plates and license after 30 days residency. If you are not in college or the military, you could be ticketed, especially if you have a job there. Check with your local insurer.
Reply:No problem. You may want to let your agent know you%26#039;re in another state.

As long as the plates and the operator%26#039;s license are from the same state you%26#039;re OK. Most states make allowance for students, but if you don%26#039;t claim student status, you need to re-register the car and get the Minnesota operator%26#039;s licence within thirty days.
Reply:For automobile insurance the obvious way to get a good rate is do a policy comparison on car policies. Make sure that you choose similar options with the same limits, car make, location, etc so that all things are a good comparison.

What I most often recommend is an internet comparison quote at http://www.lowratetoday.com since they have discount insurers and can give multiple quotes on car insurance polices.
Reply:yes they will have to change the plates. im not sure what car you drive or the rates in your area will be but you can get a free online quote here...

Question related to RTO, NOC and new two-wheeler vehicle registration in Bangalore?

Hi friends..I have recently relocated to Bangalore from Chennai and have brought my 2 wheeler (model may 2005). Have got NOC from RTO Chennai and have to go for registration and pay road tax in Bangalore, Karnataka. Can I know an easy procedure to go about it? I have valid bike insurance, pollution check is valid till September 2008, have NOC and old registration papers.

Any idea what is the procedure %26amp; how much time it takes in Bangalore to get one%26#039;s bike registered and tentative charges? In other cities one needs to approach through a tout or agent who charge an exorbitant amount. I%26#039;m ready to walk upto RTO office a couple of times instead paying bribes and contributing to countries corruption.

Please let me know pointers and way to go about this issue.

Thanks in advance.

What if the insurance company won't settle within the statue of limitations?

I was in an auto accident almost two years ago where the other driver hit me and was clearly at fault. I was injured and was waiting to see how things were going before I filed a claim with their insurance company. My statute of limitations runs out July 3, 2008. In April I notified them that I was ready to settle and sent medical records to them but they have said they can%26#039;t find them. They seem to be stalling and I need to know what to do to protect myself from losing this opportunity when the statute of limitations runs out. I have most recently also resent the medical records to their PO box via certified mail.
What if the insurance company won%26#039;t settle within the statue of limitations?
You need to file suit before that statute of limitations tolls. I would follow up with the adjuster, and ask for an offer by the end of the week. Assuming you provided them with all of the necessary documentation, it does not take that long to evaluate a claim.
What if the insurance company won%26#039;t settle within the statue of limitations?
You are supposed to report the accident to the Insurance Company within 30 days of becoming aware of it. In your case, and if you%26#039;ve been hospitalised for more than 30 days, they should be sympathetic to the situation and consider your claim. You can a submit all your claim documents to the Insurance Ombudsman in your City detailing the incident with dates and correspondence sent to your Insurers. The Ombudsman has the final say. Failing that, you can proceed directly against the third party which will involve going to court. Wish you luck.
Reply:You should have already filed with your insurance if you had collision which usually includes uninsured motorist insurance. Evidently you only have liability otherwise your insurance company would have already done this. Get to an attorney and get the thing filed NOW. If you wait too long, you won%26#039;t have a chance of collecting a dime.
Reply:First of all, Why did you wait to the last minute to notify the insurance company?

Secondly, in order to protect the statute you would need to file suit before the date is up.

Thirdly, Maybe you can fax the information to the insurance company, or if their office is local, you can drop it off. They will still need time to review and evaluate your claim after they receive all of your medical bills.

Next time, don%26#039;t wait so long to file the claim.

What is the procedure for Motor Insurance renewal through Online banking?
You give the insurer permission to withdraw funds from your bank account to pay the premiums. Problem comes when you %26quot;forget%26quot; the premiums are going to come out that week and overdraw your account.

How do I register a homemade trailer in Texas?

I am in Dallas County.
How do I register a homemade trailer in Texas?
You need to call your local DMV and ask where to start .As you need to take the trailer to the DMV or local highway patrol office and have them attach or stamp a VIN# to the trailer and give you paperwork to the DMV to register it...........UJN
How do I register a homemade trailer in Texas?
You go in and tell them you have a homemade trailer you want to register. They will ask number of axles, and capacity, so have some idea what its load will be.

In Houston/Harris County area a single axle small trailer ran me about $48. then add all the taxes and it should be around $60.

Every county has different rates and different tax bases.

After your first year paying auto ins do the payments go down .?

Just depends on your age and the insurance company.
After your first year paying auto ins do the payments go down .?
Sometimes but your driving record also determines your rates........................UJN
After your first year paying auto ins do the payments go down .?
Not most of the time. They may not go up though. depends on your insurer. I notice everyone here looks for %26quot;cheap%26quot; insurance and I doubt they ever see their rates go down.
Reply:Some give you a discount for being a loyal customer.

I used to use AAA to get insurance (you don%26#039;t have to be a AAA member) they will actually call around and find you the cheapest insurance, they can reupdate everything for you every year at your request to find the cheapest one for you. I personally use geico now, me and my hubby are fully insured on a newer car for $50 a month total, neither of us have had a ticket or accident in 10 years, which is why I don%26#039;t use AAA anymore. But it%26#039;s good if your record isn%26#039;t perfect and you want to find the best deal.
Reply:No, not necessarily. Due to the high rate of claims, an Insurer may still insist on an increase in premiums. However, if you have been insured with them for several years and you have not claimed, you could negotiate that they do not increase your premiums.
Reply:Rates are adjusted every 6 month so don%26#039;t be afraid to contact your insurance agent and have them earn their money by doing some price shopping for you. If you don%26#039;t have one get one the price is the same.
Reply:Assuming nothing to raise the rates, tickets or accidents, after a year of experience it%26#039;s possible to find an independent agent and get a better rate.
Reply:usually they do if you didnt have any accidents or tickets.
Reply:It really depends on your insurance carrier and your driving record. But yes, many companies offer loyalty discounts if you have been with them for a period of time. You can also qualify for discounts by always paying your bill on time or in full. Also, if you have a few violations or accidents on your MVR, they will eventually fall off (3-5yrs) causing your rate to go down, as long as you don%26#039;t get any new ones of course.

Many people shop insurance every six months or so to try to find a cheaper rate. While this will save them money in the short-run, they may be missing out on huge loyalty discounts by just sticking with one carrier. So the lesson here is don%26#039;t switch over a few dollars. Unless your saving 15% or more by switching, you should probably stick with a company you know and trust.

UK driving licence question ?

i just got my UK driving licence today and the photo on its is black and white anyone know why ? and it looks sort of fake compared to the colour UK driving licence.

thanks :D
UK driving licence question ?
Mine was colour 5 years ago, but then I lost it and applied for a new one and that was black and white. God knows why lol.

Don%26#039;t worry about it though. If it%26#039;s got the DVLA hologram on it, it can%26#039;t be faked.
UK driving licence question ?
You should have 2 images of your photo and the colouring usually isn%26#039;t that great. If you have dark hair and eyes, the photos will tend to look like black and white.

Did you get it done on the spot or via post? In the UK or overseas?

If you%26#039;re not happy with it, call them or drop in to the DVLA and say you%26#039;ve had problems using it as ID as the photo isn%26#039;t genuine looking and can you get it done again.
Reply:I thought thesame wen i got mine and its 2 do with security...

Harder 2 make fake copies of it =]
Reply:All driving licenses obtained in the last year or so [I think it%26#039;s year] are black and white!
Reply:phone up DVLA and ask them
Reply:Show it to your local Police and ask their opinion about it. Maybe someone has copied it.
Reply:The driving liscenses have changed since 2006. I got mine back in November and its black and white. Dont worry about it, your not the only one, and you know its not fake
Reply:mine is black and white also, dont worry all licences this past 12months have been modified and photos are deffinatley black and white in the UK.
Reply:if your worried at all phone the DVLA and speak to them, my other half lost his driving licences, hge originally had a colour pic and his replacement is now black and white.
Reply:When your licence is issued it%26#039;ll have a number of added security features. One of the main differences is a laser engraved black and white photograph
Reply:dvla are doing new ones to stop people using fake one%26#039;s i had my licence 7 years sent off for a new one because i lost the other one and that one come back different
Reply:Photos on driving licences and passports are now black and white and laser etched on rather than being printed in colour. Its to increase security as it makes them much harder to forge.

You dreamed that mate. The photo has always been black %26amp; white.

Is it illegal to not go through a car insurance agency after an accident?

i live in pennsylvania, where it is required by law to have car insurance. i was in a small fender bender with another vehicle. it would be in my best interest to not go through my insurance company, because my rates would not rise and the damage is not so extreme that i cannot pay for it on my own. if the other person in the accident were to notify their insurance company, who would then notify mine, would my company then require that i go through them. or could i still choose to pay for it on my own, without having my rates rise???

thank you!
Is it illegal to not go through a car insurance agency after an accident?
you are not required to inform your insurance of any incident that happens to your car, but you are better off if you do, especially if someone is injured or killed or a vehicle needs to be towed. you should definately inform your insurance if you are or found to be at fault by the investigating police officer as their will surely be a lawsuit involved and your insurance will help to defend you.
Is it illegal to not go through a car insurance agency after an accident?
You do not need to tell your insurance company if you prefer to handle it on your own. If your carrier should find out I hardly think they will be upset that they dont have to pay for a claim.
Reply:Insurance companies LOVE it when you don%26#039;t go through the insurance. You%26#039;ve been paying all that money and you don%26#039;t want to get any of it back.

And yes is is legal. But both drivers have to agree to go through it with out the insurance. If either driver reports, it the deal should be off.

Good Luck...
Reply:From the way I understand insurance, you should at least report the accident just to have it on record. You do not have to file a claim for repairs. I think the only way your rate were to rise is if you put in a claim or if the other driver put in a claim against your insurance should you be the one at fault.
Reply:Really it depends on who%26#039;s fault it is. If it was his fault, notify your insurance, his insurance will be charged for both repairs and his rates will go up, not yours.

If it was yours, he%26#039;ll notify his insurance and your rates will rise regardless. The only thing you can do to avoid his reporting it is cut him a check for his repairs.

But reporting an accident is not the same as submitting a claim, I%26#039;d report it regardless of your planned action.
Reply:No, you%26#039;re not required to go through your insurance.

If you were not at fault for the accident, it shouldn%26#039;t make your rate go up so file the claim and get the car fixed.

If you were at fault and filed the claim, your rate will probably go up. However, if you do not use your insurance, you are leaving yourself open for a law suit. You are at the mercy of the other person. What if the other driver calls and says the damage is $15,000? If you refuse to pay that much they can sue you for it. Regardless of if they actually win the case you will still have spent more time, money, and have more stress than if you simply went through your insurance company and paid the higher rate.

How do you get the sticker stuff off a window?

Ok I changed my car registration stickers today. When I peeled of the old sticker it left behind this sticky clear gunk. I had a few other parking permit stickers that I also took off and its the same story. I tried Windex to get it of...but that didn%26#039;t work?

Anyone know what will take it off?

GOO GONE WILL DO THE TRICK...
Reply:goo be gone
Reply:There is a wonderful inexpensive material called GOO Gone!! It is very easy! Just add a few drops to the sticky area and it will pull it right off with no effort! You should be able to find it at Wal-Mart any drug store or Lowes/Home depot, Maybe even some grocery stores! I hope that this is helpful!
Reply:Goo Be Gone or something simaliar works great. Just make sure you get all the excess off and give it plenty of time to dry before putting the new sticker on, otherwise it won%26#039;t stick.
Reply:Finger nail polish remover (or any petroleum based solvent) will dissolve this glue, but it may also damage the paint. If the stickers were on chrome or glass, no problem. I personally use cigarette lighter fluid for this purpose.

Registering an out of state vehicle with absent owner with permission?

Do I need him here or can I do it myself since the vehicle is not being sold? Can this vehicle be registered online?

Will the insurance company pay me the value of my loan because the car was totaled?

I was rear-ended and pushed into another car which ultimately totaled my car. The guy who hit me, his insurance company decided to total my car because the damages were more than the car was worth. But what I want to know is are they just going to give me market value for my car or will they give me enough to cover my loan, which is more than the market value? If not is there anything I can do short of taking this guy to court, to cover the remaining value of the loan?
Will the insurance company pay me the value of my loan because the car was totaled?
that all depends on if your insurance policy is for market value or an agreed value. unfortunatly if its insured for market value you will only get what its market value is
Will the insurance company pay me the value of my loan because the car was totaled?
you have to have something called gap insurance, that is usually available through the place you financed through...
Reply:You will only get the marked value(ACV). Even if you sue the other party, his insurance company will be defending him. It is very unlikely you will be awarded the difference between the ACV and the pay off. It is not the other party%26#039;s fault that you either paid too much for the vehicle, or have a very high interest rate.
Reply:Sorry, but any loan balance is your responsibility. The other driver and/or their insurance company only you the Actual Cash Value (ACV) of the damaged property (car). Any issues with a loan balance is your problem.

You can try suing the other driver but I haven%26#039;t seen anybody win one of these I owe more than the car is worth lawsuits yet.

I have seen people go to court and plead with the judge/commissioner that if the other car hadn%26#039;t hit them they wouldn%26#039;t have a situation where they owe more than the car is worth. Which is just not true until the day the loan is paid off.

The other driver is not liable for the fact that you owe more than the car is worth regardless of the reason.
Reply:What your looking for is GAP coverage. It covers the %26quot;gap%26quot; between what the car is worth and what you owe. Many dealerships sell this when you buy a car from them. Check your paper work. If you do not have GAP coverage, then you will only get the Actual Cash Value of the car. As for taking it to court, you%26#039;ll have to consult a lawyer.

Edit:

I agree that it seems unfair. Some companies, like Allstate, have just started offering %26quot;new car replacement%26quot; this would cover things like your situation, giving you check for the amount a brand new model costs. I feel that this should have been done a long time ago and hope more companies will start offering similar coverage options.
Reply:nope that%26#039;s why they offer %26quot;GAP COVERAGE%26quot; as well. when u buy insurance they ask you if you would like to elect this coverage in case of a total loss and if you did elect this coverage your insurance should be able to pay off your difference from the market value of the car to the loan amount payoff. when we bought our car we were also asked if we would like to purchase GAP COVERAGE as well and knowing how people drive now a days i didn%26#039;t want to risk buying a brand new car and getting into an accident a day later only to find out the market value of the car dropped significantly leaving us with 7 thousand to pay off. it has happened one too many times to people i know so we did spend the extra 500 or so for gap coverage JUST IN CASE. gotta think ahead in times like this so yea pretty much you should have educated yourself a little bit more about what type of coverage to purchase as well as what you could afford in case of an accident. it was definiately the other person%26#039;s fault but it doesn%26#039;t mean that they%26#039;d have to pay off your loan. if you buy a brand new car today at 24 thou and the moment you drive it off the lot... no matter what the price drops a lot... like our car... 7 grand. even if we wanted to take it back that very same day we bought it we would walk into any dealership and they%26#039;d only offer us up to 18 grand or if lucky 19. but yup... reality of the car world... get used to it and educate yourself a little more about it. sorry... it%26#039;s just life gotta live and learn.
Reply:No- they will only pay ACV. No amount of whining, lawyers, etc will change this.

Let me explain why..

lets say you owe 10k on a car worth 5k. You are 5k upside down.

Now- they pay you 5k... and you go get another car of the same value with that 5k.

You are still 5k upside down- therefore they put you in preloss condition. If they paid off the whole loan you would no longer be upside and they would be making you in BETTER condition then prior to the loss- how is that fair?

Sorry buddy- looks like your going to be upside down in your next loan just like you should be. accidents dont benefit you.

and no silly of course you cant get gap AFTER! If we could all get insurance AFTER accidents that we needed wed all walk around uninsured! Take this as an expensive financial lesson.

Remember- you are not in worse shape. Simply get a new car that cost what they paid off.. and youll still just be upside down by the same amount. how is that complicated to figure out?
Reply:If you have Gap coverage, it will cover your loan, if not, you will be responsible for the balance owed. No, you cannot get Gap coverage after the fact. You could take the guy to court, but they probably won%26#039;t award you the difference, that is a decision you made, to pay more than the value of the car. The civil court matter would be more for if you lost work due to injury, or had ongoing medical problems, not because you paid more than you should have.

I%26#039;m going to do my driving test today but?
yes thats legal.
I%26#039;m going to do my driving test today but?
yes you can use it so long is it is road legal.....if the car can be legally driven on the roads then it can be used in a driving test
Reply:jna,

Funny you should ask this question when I not only just came from the DMV, but both of my boys also just received their licenses. I doubt, in any state their going to allow you to drive without license plates on any vehicle, %26quot;Brand New%26quot; or other wise. You have to have plates, and the owner of the vehicle must have insurance, on the car, it must be updated on the tags, insurance, and smog (in some states, but not ours) the smog test that is. See, even though their the DMV, and this is a brand new car, the Driving Instructor can get into trouble with the cops for allowing you to drive a vehicle, without license plates. Then again, their may be some states that do allow this sort of thing, I dont know? I hardly doubt it however! I would call them before making a trip all the way down there just to be safe, then this way you will also have the chance to get someone who does have a vehicle with plates, and up-to-date tags, insurance and all of the legalities the DMV will need. In some states, you dont even have to be on the insurance, just as long as the car is insured to the registered owner. Here in Arizona they are so layed back about the new drivers not having to be added on the insurance for the test. Not only that we dont have to have our cars %26quot;Smog-Checked%26quot; before we register them. And least but most importantly our licenses are good for 25 years! Kid you not!!! Then again you may have already knew this. But, like if you break the law, you get it taken away, for DUI%26#039;s things such as this. And it%26#039;s like classes, and fines and the whole enchilada to get it back. Going without it, for any amount of time is torture! Especially when you know once you get it back it%26#039;s still good for the 25 years, so this is another reason alot of Arizonan%26#039;s, do not like to lose their licenses, or get into any kind of trouble! And the cool part is say you get it when your like 25....And never get a ticket or have it taken away, for any reason. You eventually turn 50 and have to renew it, but in the meanwhile your in your 30s, and 40s, with this license making you still look as young as 25. You still get to keep the photo, even up until you turn whatever age, 25 years later!HaHa!! We thought this was so funny! To be this older woman with a young ladies photo on our license still. When we first came here from California! Well Good Luck to you, hope you pass the test, and get the whole car sitch taken care of. Just remember to look over your shoulder when you pass, and to slow down on turns, and to for sure always glance at your speed to make sure your doing the limit. And you%26#039;ll do just fine! Smile, it%26#039;ll all work out!

I was a passenger in a car accident on the 29th of april?

is it too late to make a claim for whiplash?
I was a passenger in a car accident on the 29th of april?
I%26#039;m no expert, but I think if you have documents related to the accident you can claim pain/discomfort for quite some time. Some problems related to accidents might not show up for months.
I was a passenger in a car accident on the 29th of april?
It is not too late. Call the driver%26#039;s insurance company and get the claim going. It will help if you have your medical bills/statements handy.
Reply:Did the insurance company contact you? Did you sign anything? Did you go see a doctor? Did you see one right after the accident?
Reply:No. You have 3 years from the date of the accident to file a claim. If the police were called to the scene, then you need to get a copy of the police report. If the person at fault has filed the claim, then an adjuster with the insurance company should be in contact with you. If they didn%26#039;t, then you can either contact the person at fault insurance or file it against your insurance.

What does the DMV in TX check when you apply for your driver's license? Do they complete a background check?

I live in Texas and I don%26#039;t remember them doing a background check to get a driver%26#039;s license.
What does the DMV in TX check when you apply for your driver%26#039;s license? Do they complete a background check?
It%26#039;s not a background check, they will check to see if you are suspended or revoked in any other state, if you are, you will not be able to get a Tx license until you receive a clearance letter from the state that you are suspended or revoked from.

If you can%26#039;t find them, send a registered letter to last known address. This will give you something to go on and you can use it for proof of contact with DMV.

I got into an accident and I was told to get a stress test on my automobile frame. Why would I need this?

to see if the frame needs to be srviced as it might not be up to OEM or NHTSA saftey specs
I got into an accident and I was told to get a stress test on my automobile frame. Why would I need this?
To see if your frame has been compromised by the accident.

I was in a car accident and was at fault, all the other driver gave me was a name & phone # How do I proceed?

The accident occurred at a HWY interchange, in the midst of a rain storm. When I looked right to be sure I could merge into the right hand lane, the drivers in front of me slowed to an almost complete stop and when I looked back and hit my brakes and tried to swerve out of the way I slid into the back of the driver in front of me. He claimed to have no insurance, and refused to give me any information, except a phone number and a name, not his-but a woman%26#039;s that was in the car, I believe the owner. The cops weren%26#039;t responding to non-injury accidents so I had no way of forcing this guy to give me the right information. His bumper was damaged, but that%26#039;s about all. I%26#039;ve been told he could decide to sue me...

I%26#039;m not quite sure how to proceed.
I was in a car accident and was at fault, all the other driver gave me was a name %26amp; phone # How do I proceed?
notify your insurance company tell them the damage was slight on the other car and you don%26#039;t think he will turn the claim in that way if he doesn%26#039;t turn the claim in it will not count against you
I was in a car accident and was at fault, all the other driver gave me was a name %26amp; phone # How do I proceed?
Notify your insurance company. In the event he does contact you, refer him to your insurance. I%26#039;d bet you never hear from him though.
Reply:Call your insurance company, let them know what happened and any information you do have. Then call the police non-emergency line and get a police report.

Don%26#039;t worry, this is why you have insurance! Let them handle this. The other driver will not sue you unless their damages go over your coverages.

Sorry this happened to you, at least no one was injured.

My car was broken into and some stuff was stolen- totaling $200. I have AAA. Will they reimburse me?

AAA is not a theft insurance. It is for emergency break down coverage.

So no AAA will not cover it.

Good Luck...
My car was broken into and some stuff was stolen- totaling $200. I have AAA. Will they reimburse me?
Nope. You need to call your insurance company on this one.
My car was broken into and some stuff was stolen- totaling $200. I have AAA. Will they reimburse me?
For those of you not aware of it, AAA also is an automobile insurance company. Yes, they will, minus your deductible amount, which is usually $500. So, since your losses are only $200...
Reply:If you have AAA insurance the car policy will not cover personal property stolen from the car. A car policy only covers the vehicle, not any of the stuff you put in it.

A homeowners or rental property would cover the personal property subject to the deductible. So if you have a deductible higher than $200 your on your own.
